Dutch health insurance, explained in English

Basic insurance is compulsory within four months of arriving, every insurer covers the same basic package by law, and the differences are the deductible, the extras and the premium. That is most of what you need to know before choosing.

What to do, in order

  1. Read what the basic package always includes, and what it never does.
  2. Compare on the deductible and the extras, because the cover itself is identical.
  3. Arrange it before the four months are up — the fine is worse than the premium.

What we do not do

We are not an adviser and we do not sell financial products. We pass your request to independent, licensed advisers and they advise you. Nothing on this site is advice about a specific product, rate or insurer.
